Jardín Eldora is an urban farm and Spanish immersion program for children. We opened our doors to families in 2018. We are looking for volunteers to join our farm. At JE, we compost, harvest rainwater, have vegetable beds, an herb garden, native plants, and fruit trees. We hope to establish an irrigation system, a nursery/greenhouse, and a small orchard. We are raising chickens and hope to add rabbits in to the mix.
We are looking for volunteers who are learners, passionate and committed to regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices.
Experience or interest in growing vegetables, herbs, flowers, and sustainable practices such as reusing materials, composting, recycling, zero waste
Experience or interest in working with chickens and rabbits
Has a growth mindset- they are a learner, reflective and strong communicator
Positive, warm, responsible, punctual, and reliable
Able to lift up to 40 pounds
All activities involving urban farming operations such as:
- sowing, transplanting
- irrigation maintenance, watering
- tool care and maintenance
- chicken care
- rainwater tanks upkeep
- pruning trees
- pest control management, including gophers
Volunteer hours are Fridays from 9:30-11:30am.
