Urban Farm Internship

Jardín Eldora is a Spanish immersion program and aspiring urban farm for children 2-7. We opened our doors to families in 2018 and we are looking for an intern to be part of our transformation to a small-scale urban farm. We aspire to compost, have vegetable beds, an herb garden, native plants, flowers, an irrigation system, a nursery, and small orchard. We also want to raise farm animals like chickens and rabbits, and engage in practices like beekeeping and harvesting rainwater.

We are looking for someone who is a learner and has a passion and commitment for regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices.

Required Qualifications:

Experience or interest in growing vegetables, herbs, flowers, and sustainable practices such as reusing materials, composting, recycling, zero waste

Experience or interest in working with chickens and rabbits

Has a growth mindset- they are a learner, reflective and strong communicator

Positive, warm, responsible, punctual, and reliable

Able to lift up to 40 pounds

They are committed to growing with us. We are looking for someone that could stay with us for at least 1 year.

Responsibilities include:

All activities involving urban farming operations such as:

  • composting
  • sowing, transplanting
  • irrigation maintenance, watering
  • weeding
  • tool care and maintenance
  • chicken, rabbit, beekeeping care and maintenance
  • rainwater tanks upkeep
  • pruning trees
  • pest control management, including gophers
  • and other activities decided by Jardin Eldora and the intern

Compensation: At this time, compensation is $12/hour.

Logistics:

Internship hours are Fridays from 9am-1pm.
